Peoplelane is made for an individual leader, not a personnel department. Your local workspace has no employer or HR admin view and no organisation-wide report. Access to a company-managed Mac, its backups or other device controls is a separate matter.

In a local database file on your own Mac, not on a Peoplelane server. Notes, search, history and follow-ups work without an internet connection. Backups are encrypted; if you keep them in a folder that a cloud service syncs, that service transfers the encrypted files.

AI is optional. Notes, follow-ups and coaching work without it, and you start every AI request yourself.

On compatible Macs with macOS 26 or newer, Apple Intelligence runs on the device, without an API key. Availability depends on the system, language and model readiness. You can also set up another provider with your own API key: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, xAI, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including one on your own machine. Before sending, you see what will be sent; results are drafts you review before saving.

If you set up several AI providers and one fails, Peoplelane names the next provider in your list and shows whether it runs on your Mac or over the internet. Nothing is sent until you confirm. If you confirm a cloud service, your content is sent to that provider. To keep everything local, use only on-device providers.

Peoplelane runs on Macs with macOS 15.6 or newer, with Apple silicon or an Intel processor. You can use it without Apple Intelligence: notes, follow-ups, coaching and career models work without AI.

On-device Apple Intelligence additionally needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or newer, and Apple Intelligence has to be available and turned on for your Mac and language. Dictation also needs Apple silicon. Without these you can work without AI or set up another provider with your own API key.

The free workspace includes up to three people, conversation notes and follow-ups. Peoplelane Pro adds unlimited people, career models, coaching preparation and coaching conversations for CHF 9 per month or CHF 90 per year. Prices include any applicable VAT, are billed through the App Store and depend on your App Store region. If you cancel, saved notes remain readable on your Mac and your workspace returns to the free scope.

You can export a person's record as a document and a finalized shared coaching recap as a PDF.

No. You work together on the same Mac. Your private preparation stays outside the shared coaching area: only examples you explicitly share, observations you record together and perspectives you choose to reveal appear there. Leaving the shared area locks the app. Review the outcome together, then optionally export the finalized shared recap as a PDF.

Yes. Rating is off by default for new topics. Discuss expectations, record observations and shared examples, and agree on next steps without choosing a stage. Where a criterion has stages, you can choose to rate it together.

Yes. Define your own criteria, roles and expectations, start from a template for software engineering, consulting or people leadership, or import a CSV spreadsheet. Later model versions keep assignments and earlier conversations linked.

AI-assisted PDF import is an optional beta: selected pages are read locally, and an AI provider you choose can recognise the structure. Review the extracted content and uncertain matches before publishing the model. Templates, CSV import and coaching don’t need AI. Creating and assigning career models is part of Peoplelane Pro.
